Indecisive

I can’t make up my mind on this one, so I’m posting both versions. This happens to me a lot. I go back and forth and ultimately might rewrite the whole thing. For today, I’ll let these both sit here. A difference doesn’t have to be large to be significant.

FACE ME IN THE MORNING

Face me in the morning
As the sun climbs the stairs
And the moon ducks out the back
Not wanting to be caught

Face me then with glaring sun
Frowning over my shoulder
Demand the answers
To questions you dare not ask

I slept alone the evening long
While you patrolled my life
Searching for intruders who never came
For lovers who don’t exist

Face me in the morning
When the sun is on my side
And your moon is off whistling
In someone else’s dark
