I Hardly Know Myself

Another silly verse, just one will do,
Autobiographical or true.
Stories that I tell are mostly lies.
Don’t dig too deep or over-analyze.
I write to share my secret-self with you.

Disregard all that you thought you knew.
I live between the lines, a life askew.
Cursive writing, ever a surprise—
Another silly verse.

I offer up my soul for your review:
Each simple word, so easy to see through;
Each tired rhyme, how clever a disguise.
Look past the page, into the hows, the whys.
So easy to misread or misconstrue
Another silly verse.
